Quick overveiw of the Battle

Battle of Saratoga October 7th, 1777
The battle of saratoga was a crucial victory for the Americans and what was called the turning point of the Revolutionary war. The british planned to take control of New york and New england from the southern colonies, the patriots were expecting to go into a battle sooner than later. General John Burgoyne had a strategie to march through many of rivers and join with two other british commands. The british were low on supplies as they were heading towards New york, until then all commands would separate and the british would go for New york. General Howe would take one group and they would plan to take Philadelphia and so they did. The battle was just starting, as General washington retreated to new york and to meet with Burgoynes group.
The battle of bemis heights occured on October 7th, Burgoyne decided to plan another attack after the first battle. Burgoyne lost all of his troops and was unable to continue to fight. The defeat of bemis heights forced Burgoyne to stand down and surrender wiched forced him to go back to New england and was never given another chance to command. In what would later be named the victory of NY or New york. The victory over at saratoga persuaded the French to help out with the Americans with military aid and that was the major turning point of the Revolutionary war.
